Residue composition is the property that most cleanly separates verified material from mislabelled samples. Alanine, glutamate, aspartate and glycine appear in that order from the N-terminus, and the two acidic residues sit in the middle of the chain. Because the peptide is short, it can be produced by solid-phase synthesis and characterised by mass spectrometry without ambiguity. Any reported sample whose measured mass departs substantially from 390 daltons is a different compound or a degraded mixture rather than epitalon.
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide whose four residues are alanine, glutamate, aspartate and glycine, commonly abbreviated AEDG. Its molecular formula is C14H22N4O9 and its monoisotopic mass is near 390.35 daltons. The peptide carries two acidic side chains, so it is neutral to negatively charged in most aqueous buffers. Published reference summaries usually list it under both spellings, epitalon and epithalon, and treat the two names as the same material.
Material supplied for laboratory use is normally a lyophilised white to off-white powder that dissolves readily in water and in isotonic saline. Lyophilised cakes are hygroscopic and should be equilibrated to room temperature before opening to limit condensation on the solid. Solutions are typically prepared at milligram-per-millilitre concentrations and divided into single-use aliquots, because repeated freeze–thaw cycles degrade short peptides. Aqueous solutions are far less stable than the dry powder, and identity is usually verified by mass spectrometry alongside purity estimation from reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography.
Epitalon is a synthetic linear tetrapeptide with the sequence alanine–glutamate–aspartate–glycine, abbreviated AEDG. Its molecular formula is C14H22N4O9 and the calculated mass is approximately 390.35 g/mol. The compound is made by solid-phase peptide synthesis rather than extracted from tissue, although early work described it as a short fragment of a peptide fraction obtained from bovine pineal extract. In the research literature the spelling epitalon and the variant epithalone both appear, while AEDG is the standard code used in peptide nomenclature.

=== Services === As of 2025–26, the services sector was the largest contributor to Pakistan's GDP, accounting for 58.42% of GDP. The sector accounted for 41.6% of total employment in 2024–25. In the International Telecommunication Union's ICT Development Index, Pakistan's score increased from 56.4 in 2025 to 67.7 in 2026, an increase of 20% from 2025. Approximately 57% of Pakistan's population used the Internet in 2024. In fiscal year 2023–24, Pakistan's ICT exports rose to a record $2.6 billion. Pakistan ranks among the world's top five freelancing markets, with an estimated three million freelancers. During the first ten months of fiscal year 2025–26, freelancers earned more than US$950 million in foreign exchange.
==== Russia ==== On 26 October, a Russian Il-76 transport aircraft under US sanctions landed in Venezuela "after a circuitous route over Africa to avoid Western airspace, according to Flightradar24". The aircraft carried Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E air defense systems, according to a Russian official.
== Spectrum == The mass spectrum of the secondary ions emitted from the bombarded surface during SSIMS provides direct information of not only the chemical composition but also of the chemical structure of the bombarded area. This is because the mass spectrum includes cluster ions as well as elemental ions. These cluster ions reflect the surface chemistry in a detailed way. The figure shows the mass spectrum obtained from a SSIMS analysis of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The positive ion spectrum shows positive atomic ions (i.e. C+) and molecular ions (i.e. CF+, CF3+, C3F3+) of the target. The negative ion spectrum shows negative atomic ions (i.e. F−) and molecular ions (i.e. F2−, CF3−, C3F3−).
== Litigation == In 2016, the Supreme Court imposed a fine of ₹4 crore (US$420,000) on Dharampal Satyapal Limited for breaching commitments and causing delays in resolving a 2009 tax dispute. The company contested a ₹244 crore (US$25 million) tax demand related to Central Excise Duty, briefly applied to the Settlement Commission without reaching an agreement, and later faced dismissal of its petition by the Delhi High Court. DSL subsequently sought relief from the Supreme Court in 2013, securing a stay order against the tax demand.
=== Antimicrobial agents === Rhizopus cultures responsible for the fermentation of tempeh from soybean produce natural, heat-stable antimicrobial agents against spoilage and disease-causing microorganisms, extending the shelf life of the fermented product through microbial antagonism. The mold is capable of inhibiting the growth of other fungi such as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus by interfering with the accumulation of aflatoxin (especially aflatoxin B1), the mycotoxin of greatest concern. R. oligosporus has also been reported to produce four to five antibacterial substances during fermentation process. It produces phenolic compounds against pathogenic bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori and an antibacterial protein has been identified with activities against Bacillus species (especially against Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus cereus), Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus cremoris.

This recommendation by the INCB has been criticized as an attempt by the Board to overstep its legitimate mandate and as establishing a reason for governments to violate the human rights (i.e., religious freedom) of ceremonial ayahuasca drinkers. Under American federal law, DMT is a Schedule I drug that is illegal to possess or consume; however, certain religious groups have been legally permitted to consume ayahuasca. A court case allowing the União do Vegetal to import and use the tea for religious purposes in the United States, Gonzales v. O Centro Espírita Beneficente União do Vegetal, was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on November 1, 2005; the decision, released February 21, 2006, allows the UDV to use the tea in its ceremonies pursuant to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. In a similar case in Ashland, Oregon-based Santo Daime church sued for their right to import and consume ayahuasca tea. In March 2009, U.S. District Court Judge Panner ruled in favor of the Santo Daime, acknowledging its protection from prosecution under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. In 2017 the Santo Daime Church Céu do Montréal in Canada received religious exemption to use ayahuasca as a sacrament in their rituals. Religious use in Brazil was legalized after two official inquiries into the tea in the mid-1980s, which concluded that ayahuasca is not a recreational drug and has valid spiritual uses.
Luteinizing hormone is available mixed with FSH in the form of menotropin, and other forms of urinary gonadotropins. More purified forms of urinary gonadotropins may reduce the LH portion in relation to FSH. Recombinant luteinizing hormone is available as lutropin alfa (Luveris).
Although studies are lacking, a handful of case reports suggest that abrupt discontinuation of bupropion may cause antidepressant discontinuation syndrome. Rarely, bupropion has been associated with induction of compulsive behavior.
=== Tagalog === Tagalog can make long words by adding on affixes, suffixes, and other root words with a connector. The longest published word in the language is pinakanakakapagngitngitngitngitang-pagsisinungasinungalingan, with 59 letters. This compound word means "to keep making up a lie that causes the most extreme anger while pretending you are not."

=== Capital increase and IPO === In October 2018, Dutch Bros received an undisclosed amount from private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners for a minority stake in the company and announced plans to expand to 800 stores over the next five years. Dutch Bros reported revenues of $238 million in 2019, $327.4 million in 2020, and $228 million over the first six months of 2021, heading into the company formally filing for its initial public offering (IPO) in August 2021. The company stated in its filing that it hoped to raise $100 million, which it would use toward paying down $192 million in long-term debt. Dutch Bros held its IPO and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol "BROS" on September 15, 2021. The IPO raised $484 million, selling about 21 million shares for $23 each. Travis Boersma retained about 74% of shareholder voting power after the listing, due to his ownership of class B stock before he sold his stake in November 2025.
In August 2010, James Brokenshire, the Home Office drugs minister, announced plans to create a new category in the Misuse of Drugs Act, through the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill, that would allow new legal highs to be made temporarily illegal, without the need for a vote in parliament or advice from the ACMD, as was required to categorise mephedrone. According to the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs, after mephedrone was made illegal, a street trade in the drug emerged, with prices around double those prior to the ban, at £20–£25 per gram. In September 2010, Druglink reported the ban had a mixed effect on mephedrone use, with it decreasing in some areas, remaining similar in others, and becoming more prevalent in some areas. In an online survey of 150 users after the ban, 63% said they were continuing to use mephedrone; of those, half claimed unchanged usage amounts (as to dosage and frequency), and half claimed decreased usage. Compared to previous surveys, more users purchased it from dealers, rather than the internet. The average price per gram was £16, compared to around £10 before the ban. The 2010 Mixmag survey of 2,500 nightclubbers found one quarter had used mephedrone in the previous month, the price had roughly doubled since it was made illegal, and it was more likely to be cut with other substances. Of those who had already used mephedrone prior to the ban, 75% had continued to use it after the ban. Of the various drugs used by the survey participants, users were more likely to have concerns about it.
Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica was a Chinese-language journal entitled "Shengwu Huaxue Yu Shengwu Wuli Xuebao" (see box below), which began publishing sometime in 1958 or 1959, or August 1961, until December 2003 (depending on the source). Tables of contents were in English. Summaries (abstracts) were in English and Russian, and text of articles in Chinese. Later issues were promulgated in the Chinese and English languages. The translated title was "Journal of Biochemistry and Biophysics". The frequency was quarterly from 1959 to 1963, bimonthly from 1964 to 2002, and finally, monthly by 2003. Publication was suspended from 1966 to 1975. It was indexed in Chemical Abstracts Service. It may have published 35 volumes in total, over the years. In 2004 the journal switched to a full English-language journal under its current title. It is a four-amino-acid peptide built from alanine, glutamate, aspartate and glycine in that order. Its formula is C14H22N4O9, and it is made by chemical synthesis rather than extracted from tissue. The synthetic peptide is a single defined molecule, unlike the pineal extracts it is often compared with.
No. The two spellings refer to the same tetrapeptide, and the difference reflects transliteration from Russian. Laboratories and catalogues use both forms interchangeably. The material is also indexed as AEDG, taken from the one-letter codes of its residues.
Epithalamin is a mixed preparation derived from animal pineal tissue and contains many peptides. Epitalon is one synthetic sequence chosen for study from that broader mixture. Statements about one do not transfer directly to the other.
It is a synthetic tetrapeptide. Its sequence was derived from research on peptide fractions of bovine pineal extract, and the intact AEDG sequence has not been demonstrated as an abundant free peptide in human tissue.
